Sharm is second in Africa's hotel development pipeline
Nine hotel schemes, seven of them Accor's; nearly all the announced rooms are luxury and upper-upscale, and most are due to open by the end of 2027.

Sharm El Sheikh ranks second in Africa's hotel development pipeline, behind Greater Cairo only. Daily News Egypt reported this on 6 July 2026, citing a review by W Hospitality Group.
On those figures the city has nine hotel schemes, seven of them by the Accor group, which accounts for about 90 per cent of the announced room inventory. All the schemes are in the luxury and upper-upscale segments, and most are due to open by the end of 2027.
What this means for a buyer
Hotel construction is not housing construction, but it changes the area around it: roads, lighting, restaurants, footfall. If you are viewing a flat next to one of these sites, ask the seller what exactly is going up behind the hoarding and what year it is due to open: for the next couple of years it will be a building site, not a hotel.
