Ras Um Sid is the headland at the southern tip of the peninsula, marked by the lighthouse. A few metres out from the rocks the seabed drops away into a coral wall, and that wall is the reason the district exists in the form it does: people have been coming here to dive since long before most of Sharm was built.
What it is like
The cliff runs along the shore with hotels and residential buildings above it and the water below, reached by steps and jetties. It is a short drive from Naama Bay and from the Old Market, close enough for both and far enough to be quiet at night. Around the lighthouse the streets are compact and walkable; further back they thin out into the Hadaba plateau, of which this is effectively the southern edge.
Sunsets here face open water and Tiran, which is the practical reason a certain kind of buyer looks only in this district.
Buying here
Stock is a mixture of older cliffside buildings, some of them among the earliest residential blocks in Sharm, and newer compounds behind them. Position matters more than in most districts: the difference between the front row above the reef and three streets back is a different price and a different property, and it is worth walking the distance yourself rather than reading it off a map.
Winter rental demand from divers is the steadiest in the city, and it is the one part of Sharm where a property’s appeal is tied to something that cannot be built anywhere else.
